In Nepal, it is estimated that 60,000 adults become blind every year because of untreated cataract. Many cases of blindness can be prevented if adequate doctors, equipment and service are provided to rural and remote areas.

In order to provide healthy life to the people of Nepal, Rohto Mentholatum Nepal recently conducted Free Cataract Surgery camp for underprivileged people at Global Eye Hospital, Itahari. The camp was conducted on 22nd January 2022. Dr. Ben Limbu, Consultant Cataract and Oculoplastic Surgeon, Ophthalmologist and CEO of Global Eye Hospital operated and restored vision of 20 patients. Thanks to Dr. Limbu and his team of Global Eye Hospital, Itahari, Rohto feels honored to contribute in restoring light in the lives of disadvantaged people.

Rohto’s challenge is to aim for “healthy life”. Everybody wishes for “good health” and it is a source of happiness. Rohto defines “health” as being more than the avoidance of illness. Being healthy oneself leads to one’s family being healthy, and by extension, this radiance of health outspreads into society at large. We consider “health” as not just being about mental and physical aspects, but also contributing to society. With this philosophy to “support society, and maintain global health for the future”, Rohto Nepal is committed to provide eye health care to Nepali people and society and will continue to organize such eye camps for underprivileged and disadvantaged people as a part of its CSR activities.
